"Not every tumor cell can be killed with the same poison." This is what Wolfgang Wick, Professor of Clinical Neurooncology at Heidelberg University Hospital and internationally recognized specialist, says in an interview with Lucia Schmidt, host of the F.A.Z. health podcast, editor at the Sonntagszeitung – and doctor. Therefore, more and more often, inhibitors for cell proliferation are "obtained" from the diseased persons themselves and they are then treated in a completely individualized manner.

However, despite this progress, tumors in the brain, including the benign ones, continue to pose a major risk to patients. Wolfgang Wick reports why he therefore has high hopes for further research into the "networking" of nerve cells and tumor cells and what the blockade of this network communication is all about.
