Russian 'horror night' in Ukraine after barrage of rocket attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday condemned on Twitter what he called a "Russian night of terror", following a barrage of Russian missile attacks.

Zelensky wrote separately on Telegram: "The Russians continue to prove that the main goal of this war is to terrorize and eliminate Ukrainians, everything that is Ukrainian."

The president said 10 apartment buildings were bombed in the city of Uman, Cherkassy region, in central Ukraine, and later posted photos on social media showing the destruction. "Seven people have died so far and there is a criticality," he wrote on Twitter, following the destruction of a residential tower.

Ukraine's defence ministry said the death toll had risen to 15 on Friday. According to the report, more bodies were recovered from the rubble of a partially destroyed building.

According to local authorities, a child is among the dead. It is believed that 18 people were injured and are receiving treatment in hospitals. Aid workers reportedly continue to search for more people under the wreckage. Authorities said a woman and a child died during the night shelling in the city of Dnipro.

Zelensky added: "Russian evil can be stopped with weapons, our defenders are doing it. It can be stopped by sanctions, international sanctions must be increased."

Zelensky stressed that these attacks bring Russia closer to defeat in the war.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry again boasted about the missile strikes, writing on Telegram that the missiles "hit the target safely."
