The weekly incidence of Covid 19 cases at national level is decreasing: 39 per 100 thousand inhabitants (21/04/2023 -27/04/2023) vs 48 per 100 thousand inhabitants (14/04/2023 -20/04/2023). This is what emerges from the weekly monitoring of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, which also reports that, in the period 5 - 18 April 2023, the average Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.08 (range 0.85-1.37), increasing compared to the previous period and above the epidemic threshold.

The transmissibility index based on cases with hospitalization is instead decreasing and below the epidemic threshold: Rt = 0.96 (0.91-1.02) on 18/04/2023 vs Rt = 1.07 (1.02-1.13) on 11/04/2023.

The occupancy rate in intensive care is stable at 1% (daily survey Ministry of Health at 27 April) vs 1% (daily survey Ministry of Health at 20 April). The employment rate in medical areas at national level rises slightly to 4.7% (daily Ministry of Health survey at 27 April) vs 4.5% (daily Ministry of Health survey at 20 April).

Seven regions at high risk: one in particular cannot be assessed due to lack of data transmission, and is equated to high risk (pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 30 April 2020). Six regions/PPAAs, on the other hand, are at high risk due to multiple resilience alerts. And again: 6 are at moderate risk and 8 are classified as low risk.
