Travel in high standing at a reasonable price. The airline Air France-KLM is now offering a compromise to its customers: it has launched a "light" range for its Business, Premium Comfort (KLM) and Premium Economy (Air France) tickets.

This lighter version offers limited services compared to conventional offers but still a business class seat on the plane, reports Air Journal. With the light option, the traveler will only be entitled to one piece of luggage of up to 23 kg in the hold and not two. Access to the lounge will become chargeable and booking changes will no longer be free.

Reduced rates... but not too much

However, the choice of the light version will not impact the number of points earned by passengers with the Flying Blue loyalty program. For the latter, some of the restrictions mentioned above will even be lifted: thus, Gold or Platinum or SkyTeam Elite Plus members will be able to retain the advantage of presenting two pieces of checked baggage and access the lounge.

The difference in fare between the standard business class package and the light class is not huge. It is 100 euros for business categories and 60 to 75 euros for Premium Economy categories. The option will be available when booking all flights to Europe and on most intercontinental travel.
