His singing talent amazed Biden

South Korean president sings "American Pai" at the White House

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol ended his visit to the White House on Wednesday with a singing performance that won the admiration of his US counterpart Joe Biden.

At a dinner hosted by Biden in honor of Yule, after bilateral talks on more serious topics, including a warning by the two presidents to North Korea that any nuclear attack of its own would lead to the "end" of the Pyongyang regime, Yoon showed his passion for American music.

"We know American Bay is one of your favorite songs," Biden said, escorting his guest to the stage to listen closely to musicians playing Don McLean's song.

"Yes, that's right," Karaoke enthusiast Yul said in response to Biden, noting that "American Bay" has liked him since it was released in 1971 when he was still in school.

Biden replied, "We want to listen to the song with your voice." The South Korean president grabbed the microphone and said, "I haven't performed it in a long time, but..."

Yule sang some of the tracks without accompanying music and was met with applause from the audience, while Biden and his wife appeared joyful.

Biden joked: "At the next official dinner, she will be at the party. I had no idea you were singing."

After performing the song, Biden presented Leon with a guitar sent and signed by Don McLean, who was unable to attend the dinner.

Some social media users praised the South Korean president's singing talent.

This is not the first time Yoon has performed in public. During the 2021 presidential campaign, he was a guest on the popular South Korean show "Al The Butlers" and performed Lee Seung-chol's song "No Wan Els."
