A woman and three men, aged between 26 and 51, were sentenced Tuesday by the Orleans court in a case of fraud and criminal association. The damage amounts to several thousand euros drawn from the banks of the Loiret department, reports La République du Centre.

The facts alleged against the defendants occurred from September 2021 to February 2023. The process was always the same: using false documents, the crooks opened bank accounts in which NSF cheques were deposited. Cash was quickly withdrawn to make purchases.

Criminal conspiracy rejected

Eleven banks in the agglomeration of Orleans, as well as in Jargeau and Montargis, are concerned by this scam. The defendants all admitted the fraud without taking responsibility. The criminal conspiracy was rejected by the court.

The woman received a twelve-month suspended sentence. One man was sentenced to eighteen months, twelve months of which were suspended for two years. The other two remained in detention. One received a sentence of eighteen months and the other three years.
