The President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, is in Prague, at the meeting of the Presidents of the Parliaments of the Member States of the European Union: "Today, taking advantage of my presence here in Prague, I wanted to add two important events to my agenda and that are linked to the theme of this Conference: I will pay tribute to the many victims of Nazi savagery by going to Terezin and I have already been to the monument dedicated to Jan Palach, as I always did every time I came to Prague. And I did it again this time because I certainly could not disrespect your story".

The President of the Senate had planned to visit Wenceslas Square, the Monument of Jan Palach - the Czech university student, symbol of the struggle, who set himself on fire on January 16, 1969, to protest against the repression after the Russian invasion of his country - in the afternoon, but changed his program to avoid journalists, given that this initiative had already been much discussed, since it associates the Liberation Day from Fascism with another dark page of history. The one written by the communist regime in Moscow.

Russia will also visit the Theresienstadt concentration camp in the afternoon, not far from the Czech capital, an internment and deportation facility used by German forces during World War II. Dramatic place of collection and sorting of prisoners to be directed to the extermination camps of Treblinka and Auschwitz.

"

Yesterday Italy was represented here in Prague by my colleague President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana. I am here today as President of the Senate. We took turns because, as you know, today, April 25, for Italy is a very important day: it is the day in which the Liberation from Nazi occupation in the Second World War and the defeat of fascism are remembered", said La Russa who had previously joined the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the Altare della Patria, in Rome, together with the President of theChamber Lorenzo Fontana, the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, and the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto.

The decision to celebrate April 25 abroad has been a source of criticism from the opposition. And Fabrizio De Santis, president of the ANPI Rome, at the end of the traditional procession of April 25 said from the stage of Porta San Paolo: "What makes us all agree? La Russa's resignation. All fascist associations must be dissolved."
