Sungshin Women's University professor Suh Kyung-deok hailed the recent sale of "Dokdo Dokdo Shrimp" sushi at the Hong Kong branch of a popular Japanese sushi chain, saying it "will set a good precedent."

Professor Suh said on his social networking service (SNS) today (25th), "(Instagram) followers reported it and confirmed it through various channels," adding, "It was sold as a recommended menu of the month at the Hong Kong branch of the Japanese sushi brand 'Sushiro'."

"The fact that this company made and sold Dokdo shrimp sushi in Hong Kong helped promote the Dokdo," he said, adding, "It's not easy for a Japanese company to use 'Dokdo' instead of 'Dokdo' (the name of a Dokdo claimed by Japan)."

He said, "There is a growing trend of restaurants selling Dokdo shrimp in Korea," adding, "If we develop a variety of menus about Dokdo shrimp and introduce them naturally to foreign tourists, it will help a lot to spread the word about Dokdo."

He also emphasized that "a Dokdo promotion strategy using not only food but also cultural contents is needed more than ever," and that "K content, which the world is paying attention to, must be well utilized for Dokdo promotion."
