Prosecutors investigating allegations of money bags at the convention have converted former MDP representative Song Yong-gil into a suspect and banned him from leaving the country. How the Democratic Party will respond to these allegations has emerged as a variable in the Senate leadership election, which is three days away.

I'm a reporter on the report.

On the second day of
his return, Song Yong-gil, the former chairman of the MDP, was preoccupied with preparing countermeasures without a public schedule all day, other than submitting his defection to the party online.

After appointing a defense attorney, he coordinated an appearance date with the prosecution.

Song said he could appear before the prosecutor's office tomorrow (26th) or the day after tomorrow, but the prosecutor's office says it will investigate according to the schedule and procedure.

A lawmaker close to Song told SBS reporters on the phone that Song "will have no choice but to watch the prosecutor's investigation for the time being."

The money envelope allegations have emerged as a variable in the Democratic Senate leadership election, which is three days away.

While each came up with a solution, there was a consensus on the need to supplement and reform the system.

[Park Beom-gye/Democratic candidate for Senate Minority Leader: I think internal innovation is important to be strong against it.]

[Hongik Pyo/Democratic Party candidate for Senate Leader: I think this is something that we need to think about as something that can be done systematically to address these issues.]

The pressure on lawmakers Yoon Kwan-seok and Lee Sung-man, who are at the heart of the allegations, continued.

[Lee Won-wook/MDP lawmaker (SBS Radio's Kim Tae-hyun's political show): Instead of waiting for a judicial judgment, we should be held politically and morally accountable.]

The People's Power accused the Democrats of evading responsibility and disguising party disguise.

[Kim Ki-hyun/Representative of the People's Power: People who often call themselves progressives are both incompetent and immoral, to the point where I think that they have a morality disorder beyond moral malaise...]

As the prosecutor's investigation, such as Song's recall, begins in earnest, the voices calling for further defection from the party and the preparation of renewal measures are expected to grow louder.
