A controversy continued in political circles today (100th) over the contents of President Yoon Seok-yeol's foreign press interview that it was unacceptable to ask Japan to kneel unconditionally because it happened
25 years ago. Lawmakers from the ruling party claimed that the interview appeared to be different from what the president actually said, so the reporter who wrote the article released the full text of the president's remarks.

What has fueled the
controversy is the People's Power official commentary.

He argued that there was no subject to any mention of Japan in the summary of the president's remarks released by the President's Office, and that the idea of kneeling unconditionally to what happened 100 years ago should be interpreted to mean that "Japan" could not accept it.

I accused the Democratic Party of stirring up anti-Japanese sentiment with possible mistranslations in the translation process, but within a day, the tide turned.

The original Korean text released by the interviewee contained what the president himself, not Japan, said was unacceptable.

The opposition immediately went on the offensive.

The president had an accident before his visit to the United States, and accused him of being caught responding with lies, calling it an international embarrassment.

[Rep. Lee Jae-myung/Democratic Party: We're doing a reading comprehension test on the people right now, which is not right.]

The ruling party said that it was emphasizing that it would resolve relations between South Korea and Japan well under strict security conditions, and countered that the MDP was obsessed with demagoguery and anti-national behavior every time it visited.

However, he spared no comment on the subject controversy sparked by the chief spokesman.

[Kim Ki-hyun/Representative of the People's Power: Ask him, I explain what he said, not the spokesperson's spokesman.]

Senior spokesman Yoo Sang-beom, who wrote the comment, said there were deficiencies in fact-checking and that he would be more cautious.
