Two ultra-right activists, arrested Saturday in Paris with weapons of war on their return from Ukraine, were sentenced on Monday to 15 months in prison, nine of which were suspended, according to the Paris prosecutor's office.

The two men were tried for transporting and possessing weapons at an appearance hearing with prior admission of guilt (CRPC) - a kind of French guilty plea. In addition to prison sentences, they were banned from possessing a weapon subject to authorization for five years.

According to the prosecutor's office, which confirmed information from Le Parisien, they were arrested at the Paris-Bercy station, at the descent of a Flixbus from Lviv.

Registered for endangering the security of the territory

The two men were in possession of optics and ammunition magazines classified as weapons of war, and said they had fought in Ukraine, added the public prosecutor's office, which said that neither had previously appeared before the criminal court.

They were registered for endangering the security of the territory and were as such monitored by the DGSI, confirmed two sources close to the file. The DGSI has listed, according to a police source, 400 French people who went to fight in Ukraine, including about thirty of them known to belong to the ultra-right.
