He was 16 years old at the time of the facts, when his mother-in-law was found dead after receiving about thirty stab wounds in the family apartment in Millau. This young man, now 18 years old, was sentenced Friday to fourteen years in prison for murder by the Assize Court for minors of Aveyron.

The 39-year-old victim was discovered after a neighbour alerted him to screaming and a thud. The teenager, prostrate in the apartment where the body lay and where a bloody kitchen knife was placed on a piece of furniture, had immediately reported a "situation of bullying and regular remonstrances".

"He couldn't take it anymore"

"He couldn't take it anymore," summarized at the hearing the lawyers of the accused, Lauriane Noto de la Perche and Valérie Bentivegna, for whom this tragedy could have been avoided if the teenager had been placed in foster care, as he had requested.

According to the defense, the young person is undergoing training in detention and would like to become a dog trainer. And, in 2022, a college of expert psychiatrists and psychologists had concluded that there was an "almost zero risk of repetition of the facts and an equally low dangerousness".

The jurors, however, went beyond the submissions of the attorney general who asked for ten years of imprisonment.
