9 tips to avoid digestive problems during Eid

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has identified 9 tips to avoid digestive problems during Eid al-Fitr, especially after the shift in diet and the end of fasting.

The authority explained that the most important medical advice is to "eat in small quantities and stay away from heavy meals, as well as to determine a time difference between the main meals of at least 4 to 5 hours."

She continued, "Everyone should be careful to return to the previous diet of the month of Ramadan gradually, and to stay away from the sudden return from the first days of Eid, and should also stay away from excessive intake of sweets and sugars in general."

She stressed the need to chew food slowly and well to ensure easy and fast digestion, and it is also recommended to eat chicken or fish because they take less time to digest compared to meat.

The authority also advised avoiding eating fatty foods and soft drinks, and making sure to drink between 8 to 10 glasses of water a day, as well as exercising or walking to facilitate the process of digesting food.
