The United Arab Emirates and the Federative Republic of Brazil issued a joint statement following the official visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the UAE, the day before yesterday, and the statement said that during the visit, a number of memorandums of understanding were signed, and it was agreed to deepen the strategic partnership in key areas, and the two countries held an in-depth exchange of views on regional and international issues, and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and coexistence.

The statement said that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the President of the Brazilian Senate, the Governor of Bahia State, a number of cabinet members, in addition to representatives of the business sector, joined the presidential delegation to discuss opportunities to expand the strategic partnership between the two countries.

1- Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the Rio Branco Institute and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy for Diplomatic Training.

2- Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil on climate action.

3- Joint statement between the UAE and Brazil on promoting ambition and multilateral action on climate change.

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Governor of Bahia, Geronimorudriguez, and the Managing Director and CEO of Mubadala Group, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Makoba project, a sustainable agro-industrial initiative that foresees an investment of up to US$2.5 billion in biodiesel production that will benefit thousands of families in rural areas of Bahia. The two sides agreed to deepen the strategic partnership between the UAE and Brazil in key areas, including renewable energy, science and technology, sustainable development, education, climate action, multilateral action, defense, aviation, space, food security and agriculture, transport, logistics, and cooperation.

The two sides stressed the importance of the UAE and Brazil as major hubs for regional and global markets, and in this context, Brazil, as one of the founding members of the Organization of the Common Market for the South (Mercosur) and its next chairman, expressed its readiness to share the UAE's proposal to start a dialogue with its partners in the Common Market (Mercosur), and discussed efforts to enhance cooperation between the BRICS Group and the United Arab Emirates.

The two sides reaffirmed the importance of maintaining and promoting peace and coexistence, and reaffirmed their rejection of intolerance, hate speech, discrimination and all forms of extremism, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Lula da Silva affirmed that the UAE and Brazil will continue to strengthen bridges of cooperation, partnership and dialogue to achieve stability and prosperity for all.

As the host country of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) this year, the UAE welcomed the announcement that Brazil will host the 30th session of COP30 in 2025, and expressed their commitment to work together to ensure that the multilateral process of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change paves the way for a course correction on ambition and climate action For all nations.
