An old chair that a man in the United States bought for just $50 (about 6,6000 won) on the second-hand market has been confirmed to be a precious chair worth tens of millions of won.

As it turned out, this chair was designed by a famous designer and was limited edition of only 50 chairs in the world.

According to local media such as Business Insider, Justin Miller, 33, bought an old chair for $50 on a second-hand trading platform to give furniture to a friend who had moved.

"This chair was sitting on the door of a mansion in Beverly Hills," Miller said at the time, "and I did a quick internet search and was happy to get a chair from a name brand at a bargain price."

The chair in the photo looks old, with torn leather and slightly damaged legs, but it was made by Fritz Henningsen, the famous designer who founded the Danish luxury furniture company Karl Hansen.

Up until this point, Miller had simply thought of the chair as Fritz Henningsen's fine furniture.

However, users who saw the chair video that Miller posted on TikTok gave him a surprising fact.

"That chair is not just a Fritz Henningsen chair. Designed by Fritz Henningsen himself, there are only 5 limited-edition chairs in the world."

Miller commissioned an appraisal from art auction house Sotheby's, and the results were astounding.

This is because it was estimated to be worth up to $1,5 (about 6 million won), close to 600,6 times the $7 paid at the time of purchase.

The limited-edition chair purchased by Miller will be auctioned off on June <>.
