New York City, USA, which is suffering from rats, recently declared war on rats by hiring a "rat manager" with an annual salary of 2 million won.

On Jan. 12, local time, ABC, CNN, and others reported that New York City appointed Kathleen Corradi as the city's first "rat czar."

The mayor of New York City said, "Corradi has the knowledge to drive away rats and create cleaner cities . . . Propulsion · Experience · There's energy."

A former elementary school teacher, Corey worked for the New York City Department of Education as a land-use sustainability officer.

Corradi, who became New York's first "rat representative," said, "All New Yorkers, myself included, hate rats," adding, "Rats are strong, but New Yorkers are stronger."

"Rats are a matter of systems, including sanitation, health, housing, and the economy," Corradi said, "and we will adopt a science- and systems-based approach to no longer tolerate rat haunts in New York, which has been branded as a 'pizza rat.'"

Earlier, a video of a rat moving on a subway stairway in New York biting a slice of pizza larger than its own body went viral on social media, and numerous media outlets reported it, making New York the city of "pizza rats."

CNN reported on the appointment of New York's first rodent task force, saying, "It's unclear how many rats there are in New York, but there are probably more rats than people, and it's estimated that there are about 200 million rats."

Meanwhile, in December last year, New York City posted job openings for the job with an annual salary of 12,12~17,1 USD (about 5 million KRW ~ 500 million KRW).

Out of about 2 applicants, the final winner will receive $2,000 (approx. KRW 900 million).
