It is now at the final stages for the pre-agreement between the German flag carrier and the Ministry of Economy on the entry of Lufthansa in the capital of Ita Airways, born from the ashes of Alitalia. The aim is to close everything by April 24, the deadline set for signatures. At stake is a sum ranging between 250 and 300 million euros.

Among the steps following the acquisition of part of the capital of Ita, the increase of the air fleet is also planned. According to the 2023-2027 business plan, in fact, the number of aircraft made available to the carrier heir to Alitalia will increase from the current 67 to 98. By 2025, ITA will also have 80% of new generation aircraft.

"The first quarter of this year is paying off last year's efforts. We are still in advance but we will close with 18% more cash than our budget" commented the CEO of Ita Airways, Fabio Lazzerini.

The CEO participated in the inauguration of the new boarding area of Terminal 1 of Fiumicino airport, an investment by Aeroporti di Roma of 500 million euros. The new structure was built on 25 thousand square meters with 22 gates for 6 million passengers departing every year and a new baggage claim system, with an additional capacity of 3 million passengers a year.

Thanks to the collaboration with the Fondo Edifici di Culto of the Ministry of the Interior, departing passengers will be able to admire Bernini's latest work, the Salvator Mundi.
