plans to increase the number of critical emergency medical centers that can arrive anywhere in the country within one hour when there is an urgent patient are promoted even more. This is what the government and the ruling party discussed today (1th), and there has been talk about the recent shortage of pediatricians.

Reporter Park Chan-beom contributed to this report.

<Reporter> On the 5th of last month,

a teenage female student who fell from a building in Daegu died after going around the emergency room for more than two hours.

This is because they could not receive treatment in time because they did not have a hospital bed or a doctor to treat them, but the ruling party of the government has come up with measures to prevent a recurrence.

First, it said it would increase the number of critical emergency medical centers accessible within one hour from anywhere in the country from 19 to 10.

As it was pointed out that even if the number of emergency medical institutions were increased immediately, there was no intention to work, so there were discussions about additional support measures, such as improving the treatment of emergency personnel.

[Park Loan/Chairman of the People's Power Policy Committee: We decided to improve working conditions by subsidizing on-call expenses for night holidays and ensuring appropriate working hours.]

In particular, he said he would consider raising the number of pediatricians to address the shortage of adolescent doctors, but he said that the number of emergencies for critically ill pediatric patients should be improved first.

[Cho Kyu-hong/Minister of Health and Welfare: We decided to consider implementing a post-compensation system and then expanding the number of severe pediatric emergencies.]

We are promoting the revision of the law so that non-face-to-face medical care that was temporarily allowed during the COVID-2 pandemic can continue.

The legal basis disappears due to the downward trend in the corona crisis stage, but since the MDP agrees to non-face-to-face medical treatment in a broad framework, the policy is to select it as a pilot project under the Basic Law on Health Care until the law is amended.
