US administration questions reports of China collecting data from a spy balloon over sensitive military sites

Reuters reported that the US administration of Joe Biden has not been able to confirm reports that China collected data via a spy balloon that flew over sensitive military sites earlier this year, and that it is still analyzing the debris of the balloon.

Senior U.S. officials also said the Chinese balloon had passed the data to Beijing despite efforts by the U.S. government to prevent it from doing so.

The incident has led to increased criticism of Biden by Republicans. However, the Pentagon and the White House have not confirmed this account, saying they are currently analyzing the wreckage.

So far, neither China's Foreign Ministry nor the Chinese embassy in Washington have immediately responded to a request for comment.

In addition, these reports increase tensions between the United States and China as they compete for global dominance and technological advancement. The incident comes months after the United States accused China of stealing biotech data and stealing intellectual property, which China has vehemently denied.

Some reports suggest that this incident may lead to new measures against China by the United States, and this topic may be raised in future meetings between the two countries.
