Carrefour will now take back your used toothbrushes, damaged tights and many other objects that tend to be among the "forgotten of recycling", says Carine Kraus, executive director of the group's engagement. From this Friday, the brand will install on the parking lot of six of its stores, a "recycling kiosk", reports Le Parisien. Many French people do not know it, but some products thrown into the "catch-all" trash can actually have a second life.

This is the case for pens, toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, razors and blades, synthetic fibre stockings, damaged toys or pans and pans. To overcome this lack of information, Carrefour has partnered with five brands: BIC, DIM, Hasbro, Phillips and Tefal. This collaboration will make it possible to install collection points in front of stores in Athis-Mons (Essonne), Angoulins (Charente-Maritime), Évreux (Eure), Laval (Mayenne), Nice-Lingostière (Alpes-Maritimes), and Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône).

Discounts of up to 15 euros

"We will test the device. And depending on the results, the goal is to deploy it more massively," explained Carine Kraus. Customers will be able to drop off six different kinds of products at the kiosks, regardless of their brand. In exchange, they will receive a discount voucher of up to 15 euros. Their value will depend on the quantity and type of items recycled. Five pens will bring for example a credit of 50 cents while a pan will give right to a voucher of 5 euros.

Discounts will be available after scanning the kiosk QR code and registering the dropped off items. These will then be collected and recycled by TerraCycle. Objects in good condition will not be accepted because it is preferable to give them to associations. The use of discount vouchers is also subject to a condition. They will only be valid from a minimum purchase amount.
