Found guilty, in May 2022 at the Assize Court of Drôme, of killing his wife, a sexagenarian was sentenced on appeal on Monday to twenty-four years in prison. The Assize Court of Isère has retained premeditation and has therefore convicted the accused for murder, reports France Bleu Drôme Ardèche.

Eight stab wounds

On October 28, 2018, in Bourg-lès-Valence (Drôme), the man had murdered his wife, aged 53, with eight stab wounds in the middle of the night. Four months earlier, the victim had announced to her husband, to whom she had been married for thirty-two years, that she wished to divorce. Her husband had harassed her and threatened her with death before committing the irreparable.

After the fact, the man had attempted suicide before being arrested by the police. According to our colleagues, he had already been convicted in 2013 for assaulting his wife with a knife.
