King Charles III of England will make his first visit abroad as monarch tomorrow, Wednesday, and will arrive in Germany. The new king will be the first foreign head of state since the war to be received with full military honours at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate and the first British monarch to speak to Germany's federal parliament, the Bundestag.

Charles was due to arrive in France on Sunday to meet President Emmanuel Macron, but Downing Street announced Friday that the trip would be postponed due to violent protests over pension reform. He was supposed to visit the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to lay a wreath, open an exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay and enjoy a banquet with the president and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the Château de Versailles.

Buckingham Palace said the change was just a "postponement". In a statement, a spokesman said: "Their Majesties look forward to the opportunity to visit France as soon as dates can be set."
