Required for those between eight and 11 years old to have a permit from one of the parents

Children under 8 years old are banned from traveling alone on public transport in Dubai

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has warned against children riding alone on public transport, stressing that it is forbidden for those under the age of eight to travel on public transport without accompanying adults, while those between the ages of eight and 11 are allowed to use mass transportation, provided that they have a permit from one of the parents, with the exception of buses between cities where they are prohibited from riding alone in any case.

The Authority stressed that the safety of children is a responsibility shared by everyone, including parents, employees at stations and public transport drivers, noting that everyone must adhere to the guidelines for the movement of minors in mass transport, in order to ensure their safety.

The use of public transport in Dubai is subject to a number of conditions and requirements, as the minimum balance on the NOL card of AED 7.5 must be available, and the customer must comply with the general rules and regulations governing the use of mass transport, to ensure security and safety for all passengers and users.

Customers can inquire about flight schedules by visiting the RTA website or by contacting Suhail's call center on 600500605. The latest data issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) showed that the number of users of mass transport in Dubai, which includes the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram and public transport buses, and marine transport means that include abras, ferries, water taxis and water buses, in addition to shared mobility that includes e-booking vehicles, smart rental vehicles, buses on demand and taxis, reached about 621.4 million passengers, during the year 2022, compared to about 461 million passengers during 2021, recording a growth of 35%.
