King Charles III's visit to France postponed over protests

King Charles III's planned visit to France on Sunday has been postponed due to ongoing protests over pension reform, the French presidency said Friday.

"This decision was taken by the French and British governments after a phone call between the president and the king on Friday morning," a statement said, adding: "This state visit will be rearranged as soon as possible."

The French presidency said the British king's state visit to France would be postponed after trade unions called for another day of nationwide strikes and protests during his visit.

King Charles was due to make his first state visit as king to France on a three-day trip that began on Sunday.

"Due to yesterday's announcement that another day of nationwide protests against pension reform will be held on Tuesday, King Charles' visit, tentatively scheduled for March 26-29, will be postponed," the Elysee Palace said in a statement.
