"Italy can be said to be very satisfied" with the European Council's conclusions, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni told reporters after the session. On migrants there was "a change of pace impressed in the last Council but now migration remains a priority of the EU objectives" with a "verification of the implementation of the results in the next European Council. This shows that it was not a commercial and a single initiative. We work on the concreteness of the results that seem good to me and demonstrate good faith in dealing with this matter".

"I have raised the issue of Tunisia, even in the European Council, in the sense that perhaps not everyone is aware of the risks that are being run with respect to Tunisia and of the need to support stability in a nation that has strong financial problems and that if we do not address those problems risks unleashing an objectively unprecedented wave of migration", He further explained.

"So surely there is a lot of commitment on this, I also talked about it with Commissioner Gentiloni who will be there in the coming days to try to do what clearly the commission can do even if upstream the fundamental key issue is the International Monetary Fund", he then highlighted. "So diplomatic work must be done to convince both sides, IMF and Tunisian government, to close this agreement to financially stabilize the region."

Among the other issues on which the president focused, the Next generation EU funds disbursed following the national recovery and resilience plan (PNRR): on the third tranche "I see absolutely no risks, there is a very serious, very collaborative work, we have inherited a situation that certainly requires working very quickly, this is what we are doing together with the Commission. I have now spoken to Ursula von der Leyen and it seems to me that the Commission greatly appreciates the serious work that Italy is doing. All the decisions that are made are decisions that we are sharing. I don't see any risks."

On biofuels, the premier assures that "the game is not lost at all, we are showing that they respect zero emissions". Do I share France's position on nuclear power? "I share the position of technological neutrality, so yes, I think that in addition to the technologies that can guarantee the objectives that the EU has set itself, other technologies that meet certain targets must also be recognized, regardless of whether nuclear power is used or not in a nation". This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the end of the European Council

With regard to the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Meloni believes that "the matter of the ESM should not be discussed upstream but downstream and in the context in which it operates. This morning we discussed banking union and on the subject of the backstop the ESM is a sort of Supreme Court, the Banking Union is the first and second degree. It is a reasoning that must be done in an overall framework". This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the end of the European Council.

I am also positive on the conclusions with regard to the "matter of governance, which is fundamental for us, to be resolved by the end of this year and which obviously must take into account the strategic objectives that the Union has set itself. If the Union works on the ecological transition, if it works on the digital transition, if it works on supporting Ukraine, then it must take those investments into account in its governance rules."

With the President of the Republic French Emmanuel Macron, yesterday, "it was a very long meeting, and scenario on a complex situation on the geopolitical level. It seems to me that there is a desire to collaborate on matters of strategic importance, certainly for Italy and for France. I am thinking of the migration issue, on which I register a great willingness on the part of President Macron to address the issue in a structural way, and industrial matters. On some things on which the national interests of France and Italy can also coincide and it seems to me that there was a very productive, very favorable climate. And I believe that this can be useful to address common challenges. I am satisfied with this bilateral."
