The Red Crescent continues its support for earthquake victims in Syria

As part of Operation Gentleman Knight 2, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) field teams organized field tours to support and provide psychological, moral and material support to a number of affected families in Latakia Governorate, one of the Syrian governorates affected by the earthquake that occurred last month, as part of the recovery and rehabilitation phase.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) participated in field tours with the Emirates Red Crescent team, in coordination with its Syrian counterpart, where it visited in the area of "Al-Saqoubin" the Syrian child Abdul Hai Yassin (11 years old), one of the displaced children with his mother from Aleppo to Latakia, who suffers from leukemia and is receiving treatment at Latakia Hospital.

The Emirates Red Crescent provided all kinds of psychological and moral support to the child Abdul Hai, and took him from his tent to his new home next to the hospital, after he was paid rent for a full year, with all the necessities of living for him.

The field teams, in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent delegation, moved to the house of Marwan Mohammed Salim in the suburb of Bouqa, who lost his wife, son and a number of relatives as a result of the earthquake in the Damsarkho area, and who thanked the UAE support team who quickly responded to the call of the Syrian people in their plight.

The Emirates Red Crescent team continued its tours in Latakia, and met Badr Al-Din Maher Ali Ibrahim, in the northern Raml area, to console him and provide him with psychological and material support, to relieve him after he lost his two sons and his wife as a result of the earthquake.

Mahmoud Rifai, a member of the Latakia Provincial Council, praised WAM for the tireless role and efforts exerted by the UAE, which rushed to support the Syrian people through the Jusoor Al-Khair campaign, and to provide moral and material support to thousands of families affected by the earthquake.

Emirates Red Crescent teams also continued their humanitarian efforts as part of Operation Gentleman Knight 2.

The Crescent teams began implementing the initiatives of the holy month of Ramadan, which target nearly 160,168 families, whether from families affected by the earthquake, or others in several areas in Syria, with a total assistance estimated at three million and 365,5000 dirhams. On the first day of Ramadan, the field teams, in coordination with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, began distributing 75,10 food baskets of Ramadan Mir to Syrian families, implementing Ramadan tents in five regions, distributing 5000,<> fasting Iftar meals, preparing nearly <>,<> Eid clothes, in addition to a Zakat al-Fitr program targeting <>,<> families.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Hamoud Abdullah Al-Junaibi, stressed that the Authority has developed an ambitious plan to strengthen Ramadan programs this year in the Syrian areas affected by the recent earthquake, pointing out that a large part of the "Jusoor Al-Khair" campaign is allocated to provide the Ramadan needs of food for the Syrian brothers during the holy month.
