In the current wage dispute, the Verdi trade union has called for another strike day on Tuesday. This time, the city of Wiesbaden and the districts of Rheingau-Taunus and Limburg-Weilburg are affected. The employees of the public service - so about of municipal bus lines, the garbage collection or of municipal clinics and day-care centers are called upon to lay down their work, said Verdi district manager Marcel Schmelz on Monday. At least a thousand strikers are expected.

In the morning, therefore, a demonstration through the Wiesbaden city center with a final rally on the Dernschen site is planned. The colleagues would walk on the gums and receive nothing but applause for their tireless efforts. "These activities should finally be properly paid, so that the colleagues can continue to afford to live from this mission, despite rising prices," explained Schmelz. The public service must also be made more attractive for new employees.

10.5 percent more income

Recently, there had been repeated warning strikes in Hesse. Last week, a total of around 2500 non-medical employees laid down their work in municipal hospitals on two days. At the beginning of March, numerous daycare centers remained closed because employees had gone on strike.

In the current wage negotiations for the approximately 2.5 million employees of the federal government and municipalities, the union and the civil servants dbb demand 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more per month. In the second round of negotiations at the end of February, there had been no rapprochement despite an offer from the employers. The third round of negotiations is scheduled to take place next week (27 to 29 March) in Potsdam, Brandenburg.
