Sisi discusses with Russian officials Dabaa nuclear plant project and grain supplies

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held talks on Sunday with high-level Russian officials to discuss joint projects, especially with regard to the construction of the Dabaa nuclear power plant being built by Russia on Egypt's northern coast, as well as grain supplies and food security, the Egyptian presidency said.

The meeting, which was attended by officials including Russia's trade minister and Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy, also covered the establishment of a Russian industrial zone within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, along with other investments, the presidency said.

Russia's state-owned nuclear power company Rosatom began construction of Egypt's first nuclear plant at El Dabaa in July last year, and work is expected to continue until at least 2030.
