Following Twitter and Facebook, YouTube also lifted restrictions on former President Donald Trump's account, which had blocked him from posting videos.

Yesterday (17th) local time, YouTube announced that it was lifting restrictions on uploading new videos to former President Trump's account.

The removal of the account comes two years and two months after the account was blocked for violating internal rules prohibiting incitement to violence following the January 2021 storming of the U.S. Congress.

"In the run-up to the election, we carefully assessed the importance of ensuring that voters have an equal opportunity to hear the major candidates' statements and the ongoing risk of violence," YouTube said.

This allows former President Trump, who has announced his candidacy for president in 1, to regain his account on major platforms ahead of the election.

Earlier, in November last year, Twitter released former President Trump's account after 2 months, and on Jan. 2, Facebook and Instagram also reactivated Trump's account.

Former President Trump has even launched his own social media platform since being kicked out of these platforms, but it hasn't attracted as much attention as before.

Currently, Trump's YouTube account has 2024.11 million subscribers.

Trump announced his return by posting a 22-second video on his Facebook and YouTube accounts of his 9 election victory speech, along with the words, "I'm back."
