Egyptian-Turkish talks in Cairo chaired by Shoukry and Davutoglu

A session of talks began on Saturday between the Egyptian and Turkish delegations, headed by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on his Twitter account today that the talks address various aspects of bilateral relations and international and regional issues of common interest.

According to the spokesman, Minister Shoukry received the Turkish Foreign Minister at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Cairo and held a closed bilateral meeting.

Minister Davutoglu arrived in Cairo today at the head of a delegation on a short visit to Egypt lasting several hours, the first in more than 10 years, during which he discussed the file of Egyptian relations.

Ambassador Ihab Nasr, Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt for European Affairs, and members of the Turkish Embassy in Egypt were received by Davutoglu at the VIP lounge at Cairo Airport.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said on Friday that "the visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Egypt is the inauguration of the path of restoring normal relations between the two countries, and the launch of an in-depth dialogue on various aspects of bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern, with the aim of reaching a common understanding that achieves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples."
