Arrest warrant for former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan dropped

A Pakistani judge dropped an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Imran Khan after he went to court on Saturday after missing several hearings, his lawyers said.

Imran Khan, 70, was ousted in April 2022 following a parliamentary no-confidence motion and faces dozens of legal cases as he seeks to return to power.

An arrest warrant was issued for him after he failed to appear in an Islamabad court on March 11 to answer accusations that he failed to declare all the diplomatic gifts he received during his tenure and earned money from them by selling some of them, which he denies.

His lawyer, Gohar Khan, told AFP on Saturday that "the court cancelled the arrest warrant after Imran Khan appeared. The hearing was adjourned until March 30."
