Criticism has poured in after photos of a hotel breakfast in the UK that cost 50,17 won a day were released.

On the 3th local time, the British media The Mirror reported on the controversy over the poor breakfast served at Alton Towers, a three-star hotel in a popular British theme park.

Recently, the nonprofit The English Breakfast Society published a photo of the breakfast in question on its official social media account, leaving users stunned.

In the photo, there was a mug with half a glass of roasted beans, two sliced sausages and a fried egg, all of which looked stale.

But where many were outraged was the quality of the food.

Instead of crockery, food was in cardboard boxes, and oil was oozing from bacon, sausages, and other foods.

In response, they wrote, "It's an insult to the English breakfast" and "I give my dog rice in a bowl. What the hell is this", and "Overall it's so stale and disgusting".

The group that released the photo in question said it was tipped off to a hotel guest, saying, "Is this the 'full English breakfast' service promoted by the hotel, or can't it be served on a plate?"

According to the hotel's website, the price of a night's stay including the above breakfast service ranges from a minimum of 216 pounds (about 34,1871 won) to 366 pounds (about 57,9348 won).

As the controversy raged, Aramark, the hotel's food supplier, admitted it was a "disappointing meal."

A spokesman for Aramark said: "It was not up to the general standard. We have worked with the hotel for immediate redress," he said, "and now guests using the service can receive a new continental breakfast."
