"I'm back," I'm back. It is the first post on Facebook since 2021 by Donald Trump, readmitted on the social platform after "being kicked out" after the assault on Congress on January 6.

Trump also released a short video from a previous campaign, in which he tells his fans: "Excuse me if I kept you waiting, but it was a complicated business. Complicated." A very clear message with which the former president reopens direct communication with his more than 34 million followers who flooded the account with comments.

The last post Trump wrote on Facebook was on January 6, 2021, when his supporters invaded congressional buildings, in a last-ditch attempt to block certification of Biden's victory. The day after the uprising, Meta, owner of Facebook and Instagram, blocked the account, accusing Trump of violating the rules by sending messages of violent content.

The tycoon also returned to YouTube after the lifting of access restrictions to the channel that prevented him, for over two years, from publishing new videos on the account that has over 2.6 million followers.

Like Facebook, YouTube initially suspended Trump's account in January 2021, several days after the January 6 insurrection, for violating its policy on posting content inciting violence, then the platform adopted additional restrictive measures, such as disabling comments on videos.

"We carefully assessed the continued risk of real-world violence, balancing it with the importance of preserving the opportunity for voters to hear fairly from leading national candidates in the run-up to the election," the YouTube spokesperson said.

Videos from the former president's channel inciting violence will not be restored.

Trump has already been readmitted on Twitter and Instagram, but has so far preferred not to use these platforms, remaining loyal to his social media, Truth.
