On the agenda of the Council of Ministers to be held this afternoon are two subjects that are destined to cause much debate. One is the bridge over the Strait of Messina, which politics, between tears forward and marches back, has been discussing for seventy years. The decree expected for tonight should define the corporate structure and governing bodies of Stretto di Messina Spa, a company liquidated by the Conte II government and reactivated by the executive in office. In recent days, the Minister of Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, had indicated the timing: "The goal is to start with the works within two years - he had explained - and if we start within two years within 5-6 years there will be".

Regarding the tax reform, the Council should dismiss a draft enabling law, the cornerstones of which were anticipated yesterday by President Giorgia Meloni during the question time in the Chamber: "Reduction of the tax burden that weighs on citizens and businesses of this nation, a new relationship between the State and the taxpayer, which is no longer a vexatious relationship, but an equal and collaborative relationship and a real fight against tax evasion. We are convinced that fairer taxation and simplification of the tax system can, at the same time, lighten the burdens on taxpayers and act as a driving force for the relaunch of the economy, making Italian companies more competitive and our system more attractive for foreign investors".
