Muslim Council of Elders: Islam is a religion of mercy, coexistence and peace

The Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence the Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Chairman of the Council, affirmed that Islam is a religion of mercy and peace, and is based on the principles of tolerance and charity, and its tolerant teachings were issued to the world moral values that promote coexistence, tolerance and human brotherhood among all human beings of all differences and diversity.

The Council said - in a statement on the occasion of the International Day to Combat "Islamophobia" - that the industry of intimidation of Islam reflects negatively, on peaceful coexistence and positive integration, and raises false allegations against the tolerant teachings of Islam and its moderate message, which came peace and mercy to the worlds. He called on international bodies and organizations and the international media to contribute to the eradication of the phenomenon of Islamophobia and hatred.

The Muslim Council of Elders praised the designation of March 15 of each year as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, and its commemoration for the first time this year, expressing its appreciation for the speech of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on the occasion of this day, in which he stressed that for more than 1000,<> years, the message of peace, compassion and compassion brought by Islam is an inspiration to people around the world, and that the word "Islam" itself is derived from the same root of the word peace.
