The stab wound had been fatal. A 42-year-old woman was tried since Tuesday before the Assize Court of Laval (Mayenne) for the murder of her husband, reports Ouest-France. The drama took place one evening in July 2020 in Saint-Gemmes-le-Robert. During an argument over alcohol, the woman stabbed the victim in the chest and died shortly after.

On the stand, the accused denied that she intended to kill her husband, explaining that she had hit him in self-defense. "I just wanted to scare him and not kill him," said the forty-year-old, who had met her husband in 2015 as part of his escort-girl activity. Since then, violence has been daily and reciprocal within the couple. After five hours of deliberation, the Assize Court of Mayenne sentenced the woman to fourteen years in prison.
