The ministry said that on the morning of March 14, an American drone flight was recorded in the Crimean region in the direction of the Russian state border.

The flight was carried out with the transponders turned off in violation of the boundaries of the area of the regime for the use of airspace, the Ministry of Defense noted.

In connection with the discovery of the drone, Russian fighter jets were raised into the air.

As a result of abrupt maneuvering, the U.S. drone went into uncontrolled flight with a loss of altitude and collided with the water surface, the ministry said in a statement.

On March 14, the US European Command announced that a Russian Su-27 hit the propeller of an American MQ-9 drone over the Black Sea, after which the drone fell into international waters.
