Two peers aged 12 and 13 could be the authors of the murder of the 12-year-old girl killed in Germany in Freudenberg, near Koblenz. The sensational turn in the investigation is reported by the German media, including the DPA.

Luise F., who disappeared last Saturday, was found dead on Sunday, a few kilometers away from the path that the child should have taken to return home after being with a friend. The body was found near a cycle path in a wooded area of Rhineland-Palatinate, on the state border with North Rhine-Westphalia.

The twelve-year-old, who lived in Freudenberg, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, was last seen in Freudenberg around 17.30pm on Saturday, while she was returning home after visiting a friend. When the girl did not arrive, the police and fire brigade searched for in the evening.

"In Freudenberg we are deeply shocked and our thoughts are with the family," said the town's mayor, Nicole Reschke.
