His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, yesterday inaugurated the 19th edition of the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD), held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, until March 15 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

DIHAD 2023 focuses on the topics of "Energy, Aid and Ways to Benefit from Available Resources", bringing together international non-governmental organizations, United Nations bodies, charitable, educational and academic institutions, government bodies, in addition to relief aid suppliers and construction bodies from the private sector in order to meet the needs of communities and countries affected by crises and natural disasters, emphasizing the UAE's leadership in this field and its endeavor to play an influential role in stimulating international efforts in the field of humanitarian work. and voluntary.

The three-day exhibition and conference are expected to attract about 8200,110 participants and visitors from 830 countries, while about 50 organizations, charities and institutions working in humanitarian affairs will participate, while the conference will include 16 speakers from the elite specialists in the field of humanitarian work worldwide. The conference program discusses vital topics in the field of energy and aid through six main sessions, in addition to <> innovative workshops that provide training and explore many important opinions and solutions.

In her opening speech, Minister of State Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi praised the great efforts and initiatives presented by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent "Mother of the Nation", praising Her Highness's great contributions as a pioneer of humanitarian work in the UAE and abroad. For his part, the Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, Dr. Hamad bin Sheikh Ahmed Al Shaibani, said: "DIHAD Exhibition and Conference was held with the aim of shedding light on the issue of energy, aid and international relief, as it discusses the conditions of supply chains and logistics in the humanitarian context, and the challenges facing these issues within the conference sessions and discuss how to benefit from the available resources at all levels in order to contribute to finding and providing the necessary alternative solutions." Therefore, we value the topics presented at DIHAD 2023, and we highly appreciate the opportunity to discuss key issues related to energy, aid and how to make use of available resources." Michael Köhler, director general of the European Commission's Department of Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations, said: "Some 103 million people are now living in displacement. The year 2023 will record another record in the volume of humanitarian needs, with about 339 million people in need of protection and assistance, and according to the United Nations estimates, assistance estimated at $ 51.5 billion is needed to meet the needs of 230 million people. Director of Coordination at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Ramesh Rajasingham, delivered a speech on behalf of the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths, where he praised the UAE's efforts in supporting humanitarian services and its contribution of more than one billion dollars over the past three years.
