The General Department of Drug Control in Dubai Police managed to block and close 1291 websites and accounts on social networks promoting drugs and psychotropic substances during the past year, while the department's seizures of narcotic substances amounted to 2513 kilograms and 130 million narcotic tablets.

On the other hand, the Department was able to contain 458 patients with addiction, and provide the necessary support to ensure their commitment, whether by referring them to treatment centers, or promoting the appropriate family climate to help them recover, and the Hemaya International Center in the Department succeeded in supporting the commitment of 543 people included in the periodic examination program.

In detail, the Director of the General Department of Drug Control, Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, revealed during the department's annual report on the security patrol issued by Dubai Police, that outstanding results have been achieved in combating drugs and providing the necessary support and care for addiction patients during the past year.

Hareb said that the department passed 187 information to international police and security bodies, which led to the seizure of a large amount of drugs outside the country, amounting to about 4706,690 kilograms of drugs, with a market value of <> million dirhams.

He added that at the local level, anti-narcotics teams were able to seize 2513,130 kilograms of narcotic substances, and more than <> million narcotic tablets, in addition to great efforts in coordination and cooperation in the seizure of other defendants from other emirates.

He pointed out that the competent teams in the department blocked and closed 1292,2022 websites and accounts on social media platforms promoting drugs and psychotropic substances during <>, stressing that the department's electronic patrols are making a great effort to monitor these sites and accounts, especially in light of the promoters' reliance on modern methods to promote their poisons away from the eyes and hands of the control agencies.

Brigadier General Khalid bin Muwaiza, deputy director of the General Directorate for Drug Control, said that the department has a continuously evolving work system to address criminal phenomena linked to drug trafficking, including anonymous messages sent randomly from the numbers of promoters from outside the country to local numbers, relying on enticing their customers to buy these poisons, and depositing the return in bank accounts used by these promoters, in order to avoid being pursued or falling into the hands of the control agents.

He stressed that the public administration has confronted these methods in different ways, focusing in part on proactive control by tracking and monitoring promotions, and has achieved remarkable results in this aspect, as it has caught many promoters and users who have been involved in responding to these messages.

He added that the department focused on awareness operations, through an extensive campaign showing the need for immediate reporting upon receipt of any of these messages through the electronic platform "eCrime" available on the Dubai Police website and smart application, stressing that there is a great response from members of the community, which was remarkably reflected in the communication index through the unified call center 901, or through communication through the platform.

He added that the support provided by the center ranged between referring patients for treatment and enhancing family inclusion for them, pointing out that after studying many cases of abuse and addiction, the center discovered that some of the victims were at a good level of scientific excellence, professional excellence and living stability, but their lives were turned upside down due to lack of awareness, and underestimation of building relationships with delinquent friends, who were the cause of their delinquency and falling into the trap of destructive addiction, which was followed by involvement in various crimes to provide drugs.

A young woman (Gulf) drifted into the trap of drug abuse, after entering into a "destructive relationship" with a deviant young man, who led her to the path of addiction, but her father intervened in time, and resorted to the Hemaya International Center, at the General Administration for Drug Control to save her, taking advantage of the new anti-drug law, and the center was able to contain her and help her recover and restore her normal life.

The Director of Hemaya International Center, Colonel Abdullah Al-Khayyat, said that the Center, in cooperation with its partners, succeeded in saving a young woman in her thirties from addiction, and transferring her for treatment after her father contacted the Center asking for help and benefiting from Article 89 of the recent Law No. 30 on combating narcotic substances, which stipulates that no criminal case shall be instituted against users of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, if the user applies on his own, or his spouse or one of his relatives, up to the second degree, or who takes over Raising him to the unit, the Public Prosecution or the police before he was arrested, or before an arrest warrant was issued, requesting that he be placed for treatment with the unit.

Al-Khayyat added that after confirming that she was indeed suffering from substance addiction, the center transferred her to the addiction and aftercare counseling department, where her case was fully studied, and it turned out that she was a smart and ambitious young woman, and at a distinguished educational level, but she got to know a deviant young man, who fell into the trap of addiction, and the use of drugs and psychotropic substances.

He added that the woman's personality and behavior changed very badly, and after the family discovered her suffering from drug addiction, her family thought that the solution lies in preventing her from meeting that young man to avoid scandal, but the matter got out of control, in light of his complete control over her, and the strength of his influence on her emotionally and psychologically.

Her father eventually decided to resort to a protection center, especially after discovering that this young man is one of the owners of precedents, which is the best decision he made at the right time, pointing out that she was enrolled in a treatment program, and responded behaviorally and psychologically to the matter, confirming her desire to recover and restore her previous normal life, and she had determination and willpower, and she received follow-up, care and psychological and moral support by the social worker supervising her case at the center, and her father had a major role in containing her and motivating her to be free. From the limitations of addiction, until she eventually succeeded and reached a good stage of recovery and self-confidence, and opened her own business.

Dubai Police contributed to the seizure of drugs outside the country worth 690 million dirhams.
