This was reported in a statement by the office of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

According to TASS, in the long term, the UK plans to increase its military spending to 2.5% of GDP (at the moment - just over 2%).

It is specified that 3 billion pounds ($3.6 billion) will be directed to the development of nuclear deterrence forces, and the rest of the amount will go to replenish stocks of weapons transferred to Ukraine.

At the moment, the UK military budget is 48.6 billion pounds ($58.4 billion) a year, the statement said.

On March 6, the head of the British Ministry of Defense, Ben Wallace, said that the military equipment of the country's army against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict "is in dire need of replacement."

British Major General Charles Collins expressed his confidence that the British army was no longer able to fight on its own.
