According to early information to the police and emergency services, it was a car that had driven into a fence and started to burn.

Once there, it turned out to be two cars that had collided with each other.

- When we arrived there were two passenger cars that were on fire and were completely engulfed in flames, says the command operator at the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service.

According to SOS Alarm, three people were taken to hospital.

Two people with an ambulance and one person with an ambulance helicopter.

Later in the afternoon, the police announced that a man in his 20s and a woman in his 30s had died as a result of the traffic accident.

Two more people are seriously injured.

- There are four people in total who have been involved in the accident, the other two people who are seriously injured, we have not been able to hear about the accident yet, says Anders Wennergren, officer on duty at police region West.

Road closed for a couple of hours

Several units from the emergency services, ambulance and police were called to the scene.

The traffic accident took place at the height of Ljursdamm between Vårgårda and Tämta on national road 42. Just before five o'clock in the afternoon, the road could be opened again, after being closed for several hours.

- We have mainly worked on the damage situation at the scene, we do not yet know what may have caused the accident, says Anders Wennergren.

Both cars have been impounded by the police for further investigation.

At the moment, the report has been drawn up, but a preliminary classification of negligence in traffic.
