- We want to become a center for young people who like motorsport, says Jörgen Ågren, who is chairman of the Bygdsiljum motor club.

Usually, ice racing tracks for snowmobiles are built on frozen lakes, but the mild winters make this increasingly difficult to achieve.

That's why Bygdsiljum motor club is now investing in a frozen track on solid ground instead of snow that is trampled and then washed away so it becomes a really icy track.

The snowmobiles then have 3-4 centimeter long studs screwed into the carpet when they compete.

- Several of our members have been over in the USA and competed with great success and there ice racing is a big sport for snowmobiles.

And now we hope that this facility will be the starting point for ice racing with snowmobiles on an oval track here in northern Sweden, says Jörgen Ågren.
