British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is heading to the United States for meetings with US President Joe Biden and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanez to reach a key defense deal.

The British prime minister will arrive in San Diego on Sunday night to discuss Australia's purchase of nuclear-powered submarines under the OKOS deal, according to the British news agency PA Media today.

The Albanians are expected to announce a plan for a British-designed fleet, with the purchase of U.S. boats, as a measure to fill the gap.

While on the U.S. West Coast on Monday, Sunak is also due to unveil the new Integrated Defense and Foreign Policy Review, which was updated in the wake of Russia's war with Ukraine.

Ahead of his visit, the Prime Minister stated: "In turbulent times, the UK's global alliances are our greatest source of strength and security."
