The hard drive was found by a private individual in a ditch.

The finder called the police when he realized what was inside it.

The owner of the hard drive claims it was stolen during a party.

Thousands of pictures

The police's IT forensics officer found, among other things, around 7,000 images of children and adults swimming at a bathing area near the man's place of residence.

The newspaper writes that the IT forensics reported that several images appeared to be zoomed in and depicted children in swimwear.

In addition to the images from the local bathing area, a total of around 17,600 child pornography images and 16 films were found.

Just over 1,200 images and eleven films were judged to be particularly ruthless abuse material - that is, where the children are particularly young, are subjected to violence or coercion or are exploited in another particularly ruthless way.

The man denies any wrongdoing.
