Dubai Roads awards contract for fourth phase of Al Shindagha Axis development project

In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to complete the phases of the Al Shindagha Axis Development Project, to keep pace with the continuous development witnessed by the area along the axis, and to accommodate the needs of urban and population growth, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the first contract in the fourth phase of the Al Shindagha Axis Development Project. Sheikh Rashid Road from its intersection with Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, to Al Saqr Interchange on Al Mina Road, with a length of 4.8 kilometers, and includes the implementation of three bridges with a total length of 3.1 kilometers, with a capacity of 19400,800 vehicles per hour for all lanes, at a cost of AED <> million.

Three bridges

He added: The fourth phase includes the construction of a bridge with a length of 1335,10800 meters, with a capacity of three lanes in each direction, to ensure the flow of traffic between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Saqr Intersection, and the capacity of the bridge is estimated at about 780,5400 vehicles per hour in both directions, and it also includes the implementation of a bridge with a length of 985 meters, with a capacity of three lanes, serving traffic coming from Al Saqr Interchange towards Al Wasl Street, with a capacity of 3200,4 vehicles per hour, while the length of the third bridge is 8 meters, with a capacity of two lanes, and serves traffic. coming from Jumeirah Street to Al Mina Street towards Al Saqr Interchange, and its capacity is estimated at <>,<> vehicles per hour, pointing out that the project also includes the development of roads with a length of <>.<> km, in addition to the development of surface intersections on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, and the construction of two pedestrian bridges, the first on Sheikh Rashid Street, and the second on Al Mina Street, and the project also includes road lighting works, traffic systems, rainwater drainage network, and irrigation systems network.

He explained that the Shindagha axis development project is one of the largest projects currently implemented by the authority, and its total cost is estimated at about five billion and 350 million dirhams, and includes the development of 15 intersections with a length of 13 kilometers, and due to its magnitude, it was divided into five stages, and the axis serves the areas of Deira and Bur Dubai, in addition to a number of development projects such as: Deira Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid, and the number of residents served by the project is estimated at one million people, and the development of the axis contributes to reducing the journey time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030, and the savings from reducing journey time are estimated to be AED 45 billion over 20 years.

He added: "The RTA has completed the development of a number of intersections within Al Shindagha Axis, including the opening of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Oud Metha Street (Wafi Intersection), and the development of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, which included the construction of two bridges on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, a bridge from Zabeel Street towards Sheikh Rashid Street with a capacity of one lane, and a tunnel on Sheikh Rashid Street towards the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Mankhool Street, with a capacity of four lanes in each direction, and opened five bridges, providing bridged entrances and exits to Deira Islands at the intersection of Gulf Street with Abu Bakr Al Siddique Street, and the total length of bridges and ramps reached 2571 meters, and its capacity is estimated at 20700,570 vehicles per hour, and it also opened a main bridge on Gulf Street with a length of 4800 meters, with a capacity of three lanes towards Bur Dubai, and a surface intersection on Al Khaleej Street, with Omar Bin Al Khattab Street, and the bridge serves traffic on Gulf Street coming From the intersection of Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street and traffic coming from Deira Islands towards Al Shindagha Tunnel, with a capacity of 295,42 vehicles per hour, and early last year, DEWA completed the Infinity Bridge, which is approximately <> meters long, with a capacity of six lanes in each direction, in addition to a shared path for pedestrians and bicycles with a width of three meters, and the bridge is topped by an arch in the form of an infinity sign with a height of <> meters, and it is one of the distinguished projects in terms of design, as it is based on its idea Infinity, which expresses Dubai's boundless ambitions, and the bridge, with its unique architectural design, is a unique landmark of Dubai globally.
