Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors at DEWA, said that the 13-kilometer development project of Al Shindagha Corridor, which extends along Sheikh Rashid Street, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street and Cairo Street, contributes to providing free traffic movements along Al Shindagha Axis, raising capacity, road efficiency, and traffic safety.

He added that the fourth phase includes the construction of a bridge with a length of 1335 meters, with a capacity of three lanes in each direction, to ensure the flow of traffic between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Saqr Interchange, and the capacity of the bridge is estimated at about 10,800 vehicles per hour in both directions.

It also includes the implementation of a 780-meter-long bridge, with a capacity of three lanes, serving traffic coming from Al Saqr Interchange towards Al Wasl Road, with a capacity of 5400,985 vehicles per hour, while the third bridge is 3200 meters long, with a capacity of two lanes, and serves traffic coming from Jumeirah Road to Al Mina Road towards Al Saqr Interchange, with an estimated capacity of <>,<> vehicles per hour.

He added that the project also includes the development of 4.8 kilometers of roads, in addition to the development of surface intersections on Jumeirah Road, Al Mina Street, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, and the construction of two pedestrian bridges: the first on Sheikh Rashid Road and the second on Al Mina Street. It also includes road lighting works, traffic systems, rainwater drainage network, and irrigation systems network.

Al Tayer explained that the Shindagha Axis development project is one of the largest projects currently implemented by DEWA, with a total cost of about AED 350 billion and AED 15 million, and includes the development of 13 intersections with a length of <> km. Due to its size, it is divided into five phases, and the hub serves the Deira and Bur Dubai areas, in addition to a number of development projects, such as Deira Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City and Port Rashid.

The population served by the project is estimated at one million, and the development of the hub will reduce journey time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030, and the savings from reducing journey time are estimated at AED 45 billion over 20 years.

He added: "The RTA has completed the development of a number of intersections within Al Shindagha axis, including the opening of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Oud Metha Street (Wafi Intersection), and the development of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street, which included the construction of two bridges on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, a bridge from Zabeel Street towards Sheikh Rashid Street with a capacity of one lane, and a tunnel on Sheikh Rashid Street towards the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Mankhool Street, with a capacity of four lanes in each direction. Five bridges providing bridged entrances and exits to Deira Islands were opened at the intersection of Gulf Street and Abu Bakr Al Siddique Street, and the total length of the bridges and ramps reached 2571 meters, and their capacity is estimated at 20,700 vehicles per hour.

Al Tayer added that DEWA also opened a 570-metre main bridge on Al Khaleej Street, with a capacity of three lanes towards Bur Dubai, and a surface intersection on Al Khaleej Street with Omar Bin Al Khattab Street, which serves traffic on Al Khaleej Street coming from the intersection of Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street and traffic coming from Deira Islands towards Al Shindagha Tunnel. It has a capacity of 4800,295 vehicles per hour. At the beginning of last year, DEWA completed the Infinity Bridge, which is approximately 42 meters long, with a capacity of six lanes in each direction, in addition to a shared path for pedestrians and bicycles with a width of three meters, and the bridge is topped by an arch in the form of an infinity sign (Infinity) with a height of <> meters, and it is one of the distinguished projects in terms of design, as it is based on its idea of infinity (Infinity), and expresses Dubai's unlimited ambitions, and the bridge, with its unique architectural design, is a unique mark of Dubai globally.

He stated that the authority has made great strides in the implementation of the Falcon Interchange Development Project, which includes the implementation of two bridges along Gulf Street: the first with a length of 750 meters in the northern direction, and the second with a length of 1075 meters in the southern direction, with a capacity of six lanes in each direction, with a capacity of up to 24,250 vehicles per hour in both directions, and the project also includes the construction of a one-lane bridge for the movement of turning to the right from Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street to Gulf Street with a length of 1600 meters, with a capacity of up to 500 vehicles per hour, and the construction of a tunnel with a capacity of two lanes for the movement of the left turn from Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street to Al Mina Street with a length of 3200 meters and a capacity of <> vehicles per hour, as well as the construction of a signalized surface intersection linking Al Khaleej Street with Al Ghubaiba Street and Khalid Bin Al Waleed Street.
