State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yamada, who visited the area affected by the major earthquake in southern Turkey on the 11th, said, "I would like to provide seamless support for future recovery and reconstruction." He indicated that the Japanese government would continue to provide support, such as the team providing technical advice.

A major earthquake that struck southern Turkey on the 6th of last month killed approximately 54,000 people, including those in neighboring Syria.

Under these circumstances, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Yamada visited Gaziantep in southern Turkey, which is close to the epicenter of the earthquake, and on the 11th, inspected a medical tent operated by a medical team of the Japan Disaster Relief Team.

After this, State Minister Yamada had a meeting with Mayor Fatma Shahin of Gaziantep.



After the meeting, Mayor Sahin expressed his gratitude for Japan's assistance and expressed his desire to proceed with the creation of a roadmap for reconstruction with the cooperation of the Japanese government.



In addition, State Minister Yamada said, "The team of experts will provide advice from various perspectives for future recovery and reconstruction. We would like to provide seamless support."



Specifically, a team of experts dispatched by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to investigate the affected areas is currently providing technical advice on making buildings earthquake-resistant. I showed my thoughts on the future.
