A day of tribute. On Saturday, March 11, dedicated to the victims of terrorism, President Emmanuel Macron praised the "dignity" as well as the requirement of "truth" and "humanity" that marked the recent trials of the attacks, including those of Nice and November 13, 2015.

"Faced with the fury of the murderers, we have put at the heart of our response what these ideologues of hate abhor: the rule of law, the guarantee of freedoms, the appeasement by force of our laws," he said during a ceremony at the Invalides. This day of tribute is held on the anniversary of the attacks of 11 March 2004 in Madrid.

The head of state cited several trials held last year, such as those on appeal of two accomplices in the attack against Charlie Hebdo, or those of the assassination of police officer Xavier Jugelé. "Despite all the obstacles and constraints, these trials were held with dignity, with the highest standards of humanity and truth. They allowed the emergence of necessary words. »

"The trial of November 13 was by its magnitude, the magnitude of what was said, an important moment for you, for the whole nation," he added in front of relatives of victims, ministers, parliamentarians and Nicolas Sarkozy.

Emmanuel Macron said that 23 trials related to attacks were planned in the coming months and vowed that they would be "up to the thickness of the dramas". The Head of State also recalled that a museum-memorial of terrorism would open its doors in the first half of 2027 in Suresnes.
