Released this week in the investigation into his road accident, will Pierre Palmade soon go to prison? The investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal, which heard the parties on Friday, is expected to issue its decision on Tuesday, Attorney General Rémy Heitz said in a statement.

The investigating judge of Melun (Seine-et-Marne), in charge of the investigation, granted Monday a request for release made by the 54-year-old comedian. But the prosecutor's office appealed in the wake with an injunction detention, which had the effect of suspending his release, and on which the investigating chamber must rule. The Paris Court of Appeal, on which Seine-et-Marne depends, decided last Tuesday not to maintain the suspensive effect of the summary detention, resulting in the release under judicial control of Pierre Palmade.

Still hospitalized

"During the debates, which took place in the absence of Pierre Palmade, the prosecutor general requested the reversal of the order of the investigating judge and the resumption of the effects of the warrant of committal," said Attorney General Rémy Heitz. The investigating chamber reserved its decision at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, he added. Pierre Palmade's lawyer, Céline Lasek, passed in front of the cameras without comment.

The artist had been placed in pre-trial detention on February 27 but never physically entered prison: victim of a stroke two weeks after the accident, he was operated and is still hospitalized.

In addition to this case, investigations into the possession of child pornography images were launched after a report to the police. No charges are at this stage brought against the comedian in this case.

His home in Paris and his house in Seine-et-Marne were searched, computer equipment seized. A man was indicted for disseminating and possessing child pornography images and placed under judicial supervision as part of this investigation.
